Tribute to Elena from Ohio
who died in 2007 at the age of 6 as a result of brain cancer
After 6-year-old Elena died of brain cancer, her parents wrote a book about their daughter’s life and courageous battle, mostly as a gift of remembrance for Elena’s younger sister. Their book, called Notes Left Behind, is made up of journal entries written by Elena’s parents as well as many of the notes that Elena had written – and hidden all around the house – toward the end of her life. Their tribute has been called a reminder to parents everywhere to appreciate and savor every precious moment they have with their own children.
