Tribute to Alex from Illinois
who died in 2012 at the age of 12 as a result of an accident
Alex’s family has honored him in many ways since his accidental death in 2012, starting with the celebration of his life that they held just after his visitation. People were invited to wear funny t-shirts or Bears jerseys, and his siblings, Emma and Mason, asked people to bring Lego sets that they could give to local children in need. Working with the school Alex attended, Big Hollow, his family is working on establishing an annual Editor’s Award in Alex’s name for the Newspaper Club and an Alex Lancaster Scholarship Program for the Ski Club, and various other projects to improve Big Hollow School from a student’s point of view, including installing benches where students wait to be picked up.
