Tribute to Anna & Abigail from Oregon
who died in 2013 at the ages of 6 and 11 as a result of a vehicle accident
Shortly after sisters Anna, 6, and Abigail, 11, were killed in an apparent hit-and-run as they played in a pile of leaves in front of their house, their parents made the decision to remember their daughters with love and joy. Because they had been preparing for Anna’s seventh birthday at the time of the accident, they decided to host a community gathering instead – one that included ice cream and face painting as well as therapy dogs and a space for grieving. In honor of their daughters, the girls’ mom makes – and shows others how to make – Love Rocks to give away. These smooth stones embellished with hearts are meant to be a token of love and appreciation. The family is also working on building a public playground and picnic area called Anna and Abby’s Yard.
