A Book Abot Chaps

First grader displays her command of shapes (“chaps”)

by Emma Mebane – 2011 (posthumous)

Description

A Book Abot Chaps - Front Cover
Read FREE netbook version of A Book Abot Chaps by Emma Mebane / 2011 (posthumous) / 978-0-615-52092-6 / $4.95 from Amazon and other booksellers

In first-grade language, “chaps” is pronounced “shapes” – and this is a book about (abot) shapes (chaps). It was written and illustrated by Emma Mebane who, as a first grader, was new to the world of chaps. What Emma lacked in accuracy she made up with spirit – in her bright, bold representation of eight different chaps, including the carkol, the dimind, and the scwar. Enjoy this endearing work of a young, developing artist, and use the coloring space provided for your own special chap creations. A Book Abot Chaps is published posthumously as a tribute to Emma following her death in 2011 at the age of 19.

The original A Book Abot Chaps dates to 1998, completed when Emma (age 6) was in Miss Konig’s first-grade class in Geneva, Illinois. The astute reader will quickly see in A Book Abot Chaps that Emma evidenced distinctive artistic skills at an early age.

The things that are “wrong” in A Book Abot Chaps are exactly the things that make it so right.

Net proceeds from the sale of A Book Abot Chaps are used by the nonprofit Starshine Galaxy Foundation NFP to underwrite a variety of efforts, all in tribute to children who have passed away and in support of their bereaved families.
